Deputies Will Look for Law-Abiding Kids
Sheriff’s deputies will be out in force in Moorpark next week looking for boys and girls who are following the law and playing safe.
Children wearing bicycle helmets, riding on the correct side of the road and stopping for crosswalks will be stopped and given gift certificates. Skaters and skateboard riders donning proper safety gear also will be recognized.
The goal of the two-week Moorpark Rotary “Wheel-Safe” program is to reward 100 children and spread the word about safety measures, said Ventura County Sheriff’s Deputy Kory Martinelli.
Gift certificates for fast food, books, ice cream, videos and movies will be given out by deputies and Rotary members, who will patrol city streets together during times children are going to and from school.
