SCC Stays Alive in NAIA Softball

Southern California College stayed alive in the NAIA softball championships by defeating Olivet Nazarene, 6-3, Wednesday in Broken Arrow, Okla.
Gretchen Brandt pitched a complete game for her 22nd victory of the season. She had six strikeouts. Designated hitter Valerie Irwin and Michelle Murie each had two RBIs for SCC (49-12). Olivet Nazarene (Kankakee, Ill.) is 50-16.
SCC plays Shawnee State from Portsmouth, Ohio, at 10 a.m. today in the double-elimination tournament. If SCC wins, it will play a second game at 3 p.m. The Vanguards lost their opening game to Western Washington.
