The Southern League had a distinctive Valley flavor Friday night.
Gabe Kapler (Taft High) had four hits, including his sixth home run, and four runs batted in, former JetHawk Carlos Villalobos hit a two-run single and Robert Fick (Cal State Northridge) singled and scored for Jacksonville (Tigers) in a 13-4 rout of Chattanooga.
At Mobile, Mike Rossiter (Burroughs High), who is 2-0, struck out five in 3 1/3 innings of two-hit relief during Mobile’s 12-10 victory over Greenville. Second baseman David Newhan (Pepperdine) had two hits and two RBIs for the Baybears (Padres).
