Glendale Cruises in Third-Place Playoff

Mariga Torossian had three hits and Katie Gallagher added a three-run triple for the Glendale High softball team, which defeated Hoover, 10-0, on Saturday in a Pacific League playoff for third place at Hoover.

Kelley Cook, Julie Choi, Belinda Alcaraz and Gallagher each had two hits for the Dynamiters (11-16, 6-5 in league play), who qualified for the Southern Section Division I playoffs for the first time in seven years.

Defending league champion Hoover (13-13, 5-6) committed seven errors and failed to qualify for the playoffs for the first time in 10 seasons under Coach Kirt Kohlmeier.
