A gunman opened fire during a children’s first Communion service at a Dublin church, wounding a Sinn Fein local councilman and his son, police said. Frightened children dived for cover under pews when the shooting started. About 70 young children and hundreds of parents and relatives were in attendance. Police said Larry O’Toole, local councilman for Sinn Fein, the political wing of the Irish Republican Army, and his son were seriously injured. The gunman was arrested and held for questioning. Police said they believe the shooting was drug-related.
