AES Corp., which owns or has an interest in 91 power plants worldwide, said it completed its purchase of three electric generating stations, including a plant in Huntington Beach, from Southern California Edison for $781 million.
AES, which is based in Arlington, Va., also acquired the Alamitos station in Long Beach and one in Redondo Beach. All are gas-fired facilities with a combined summer peak generating capacity of 3,956 megawatts.
Under California law, Edison will operate and maintain the facilities for two years, after which AES will assume operations.
