Shops that dispense Chinese medicinal herbs described in “APrescription for Dinner” (page H4) are situated in areas where ethnic Chinese congregate, such as Chinatown in downtown Los Angeles, the San Gabriel Valley and Rowland Heights. Most also carry fresh ginger, dried shrimp, dried mushrooms and other ingredients used in Chinese cooking. And some can refer customers to practitioners of Chinese medicine.
