Irvine Valley Hires Cross-Country Coach

Les Berman has been named men’s and women’s cross-country coach at Irvine Valley College, the school announced. He replaces Bill Leach, who stepped down last season.
Berman has coached more than 30 Olympic athletes as an international track and field coach. He coached the women’s team at Long Beach State from 1977-79 and was an assistant at USC from 1980-81.
For the last several years he has been the coach at Nike Coast, a private running club in Long Beach.

Paola Flores, a 5-8 guard from Fullerton College and Loara High, has signed to play women’s basketball at Cal State San Bernardino next season, Fullerton officials announced.
Flores averaged 15 points and eight rebounds in helping Fullerton to the Orange Empire Conference co-championship and to the state quarterfinals. She finished her career with 487 rebounds, 13 shy of the school record.
