Man With Handgun Wounds Pedestrian

An Oxnard man was in critical condition late Monday after a bullet tore through his hand and into his stomach.
David Evaristo Rodriguez, 22, was walking along the 1800 block of Saviers Road about 4 p.m. when a group of men in a car stopped alongside him, a hospital spokesman said. Rodriquez and a passenger exchanged words, witnesses said. Then the passenger got out of the car, pulled out a gun and shot Rodriquez.
Encarnacion Flores, who witnessed the shooting, said he ran to help Rodriguez. Rodriguez told him to call police. Rodriguez was taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center.
Witnesses described seeing a brown, two-door Buick Regal speeding from the scene with four young men inside.
