Van Horn is only the most obvious player missing from last season’s Utah team.
Another is Jeff Johnsen, who would have been a sophomore but is serving a Mormon mission in Fresno. He’s also the older brother of Britton Johnsen, who found his way into the spotlight for the wrong reasons Sunday.
Majerus was thinking of all the players who didn’t get to see this day.
“I feel really sad that Keith is not here,” Majerus said. “Keith set the table for us, and he helped with his work ethic and his drive.”

Two years ago, Utah point guard Andre Miller’s mother rode a bus from Los Angeles to Dallas for the Utes’ first- and second-round games.
She’s in Texas again.
“This time, she hopped a plane,” Miller said. “I heard she was tired, though, and fell asleep during the game.”
