Girl, 2, Drowns in Swimming Pool

PACOIMA — A 2-year-old girl drowned in a swimming pool after she apparently wandered out of a home and fell in, police said.
Kristen Swearengin of Alta Loma was found in the backyard pool at a home in the 11900 block of Pierce Street about 8:15 p.m. Saturday, Los Angeles Police Sgt. Jim Brady said. She had been in the water between five and 10 minutes when she was discovered, Brady said.
The girl’s mother and other adults pulled her from the pool and tried to revive her, as did Los Angeles firefighters. But she had no pulse when she arrived at Pacifica Hospital of the Valley, Fire Department officials said, and was pronounced dead.
