Maxey Leads Tillers at Tustin Relays

Dante Maxey’s winning long jump of 21 feet 10 inches led Tustin to a first-place finish Saturday at the Tustin Relays.
The Tillers, who had 82 points, won the 800 relay (1 minute 32 seconds), sprint medley relay (2:33), distance medley relay (11:02.3) and the 1,600 relay (3:34.1).
Mission Viejo was second with 42 points, and Trabuco Hills was next with 38. Al Williams won the high jump (6-4) for Irvine, which finished fourth with 34 points. Esperanza had 26 points.
In the girls’ competition at the Tustin Relays:
Claremont 59, Huntington Beach 51 1/2, Tustin 43 1/2, Savanna 41, Costa Mesa 31--Huntington Beach won the shuttle hurdles in 1:11.6. Costa Mesa took first in the 3,200 (9:54.3), the distance medley relay (13:08.9) and the 1,600 relay (4:11.4).
