Germany Shuts L.A. Tourist Office

The German National Tourist Office is pulling up stakes and quitting Los Angeles after 22 years, following a worldwide trend of belt-tightening in tourism departments. As of last week, callers who dialed the local office were being referred to Germany’s New York City office, tel. (212) 661-7200, open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Eastern time Monday to Friday. There is also a toll-free number, (800) 637-1171.
