Duke (32-3) vs. Kentucky (32-4)
2 p.m. PST, at St. Petersburg, Fla.
These are the deepest teams in the nation, and the power matchup for both is on the frontline--Kentucky’s Nazr Mohammed, Scott Padgett and Jamaal Magloire vs. Duke’s Elton Brand, Shane Battier, Roshown McLeod and Chris Burgess. Blue Devil guards Steve Wojchiechowski and William Avery had some trouble against Syracuse’s long-armed full-court press in Friday’s regional semifinal, so look for Kentucky to do what it did to UCLA: Eliminate the frontcourt by cutting off the backcourt with the press. Duke probably cannot survive another cold-shooting performance by Trajan Langdon, and Kentucky needs another hot run by Jeff Sheppard. In other words: This is the game of the tournament.
