Not-So-Warm Welcome

What kind of a welcome to Los Angeles was that in Mark Swed’s “Prelude to the Future” commentary on new L.A. Philharmonic managing director Willem Wijnbergen (March 2)? It’s like inviting someone over to dinner and asking if they mind bringing not only a bottle of wine but the main course and dessert as well. Oh, by the way, if they could stop at the hardware store (the house needs a few repairs) and pick up the kids on the way, that would be swell.
