Israeli Settlers Given Palestinian Warning

The Palestinian security chief warned Jewish settlers that they would “not leave alive” if they tried to attack residents of Hebron’s Palestinian-ruled areas again. Col. Jibril Rajoub also said he was suspending security cooperation with Israeli troops in Hebron. Rajoub was referring to an incident in which about 30 Jewish settlers stormed an Arab neighborhood. The settlers said they were acting in response to shots being fired on a Jewish compound. The clash capped a week of violence triggered by the shooting deaths of three Palestinian workers.
