GIRLS’ BASKETBALL SOUTHERN REGIONAL FINAL

Playa Del Rey St. Bernard 72, Corcoran 52--The victory in the Division IV regional final enabled St. Bernard to advance to the state final for the fourth time in six seasons.
Sophomore guard Shannon Howell had 26 points and six assists, while Tracee Lewis added 22 points for the Vikings (29-4), Southern Section Division IV-AA champions.
Veranda James had 19 points and 20 rebounds for Corcoran (28-6), the Central Section champion.
St. Bernard won state titles in 1992-93 and ‘93-94 and lost to Campolindo of the North in the final last season.
