City Expects Funds to Fix Roads, Parks

City Manager Jerry Bankston had nothing but good news to spread at a City Council study session this week, explaining how higher than expected revenue will allow the city to improve local roads and parks.
Bankston credited booming state and national economies for helping keep the city financially healthy, with a $21.3-million general fund budget for the fiscal year.
For the next budget, which will be presented to the City Council in June, Bankston said the city is firmly committed to improving the roads, but also hopes to make changes at La Bonita park and remodel the City Council chamber.
