Conrad Cartoon
Of all the incendiary, harmful messages conveyed in the years Paul Conrad has done cartoons for your paper, none could be worse than March 6 (“Whites do the crime; blacks do the time”). Without a specific attribution, he simply makes a blanket statement that only instills a greater sense of victimhood among blacks.
If political satire is intended to improve our society through mocking self-awareness, what good could this message ever do to help the cause of those Conrad portrays as the suffering? Not only is it patently false, it instills the hatred and sense of hopelessness that will only make our society worse.
