Pair Charged in Sectarian Killings

Authorities charged two Protestant militants with murder in connection with the sectarian killings of two best friends--one Roman Catholic, one Protestant--in a village pub. Ryan Robley, 28, and David Keys, 26, from the town of Banbridge, were charged in the murders of Damien Trainor and Philip Allen on March 3 in a Catholic-owned pub in the village of Poyntzpass. The attack about 25 miles southwest of Belfast attracted attention because Trainor was a Catholic and Allen a Protestant. Neither of the accused spoke during their hearing. They told police that they were innocent of the charges.
