The defending Division II champion Santa Margarita is in a final that Coach Chuck Morales didn’t expect this season. Morales thought his young squad that returned only four seniors was at least a year away. But, after upsetting second-seeded West Torrance in the quarterfinals, the Eagles will play top-ranked South Torrance, which defeated fourth-seeded Mater Dei in the semifinals on penalty kicks. Neither team has a high-powered offense. South Torrance has scored only three goals in the playoffs.
