Cities Might Team Up to Build Hockey Rink

City officials are exploring a partnership with La Palma to help defray costs for a roller hockey rink planned at Arnold/Cypress Park. The long-awaited renovation of the park began in December, but city officials said they are running short of money.
The city has set aside $150,000 for the rink, and La Palma has budgeted $70,000 for its own rink, said Marvin DeCarlo, parks and recreation director. “I’m optimistic we can work it out in the coming 30 days,” he said.
The rink, to be built in the middle of the 13-acre park, would be used equally by Cypress and La Palma residents if an agreement is reached, DeCarlo said.
The $680,000 park renovation project also includes increased parking and improvements to playing fields.
