City Charter Reform Meetings Scheduled

Three public meetings on Los Angeles City Charter reform will be held next week.
On Monday, the Los Angeles Elected Charter Reform Committee will meet at 5 p.m. at Kenter Canyon Elementary School, 645 N. Kenter Ave., Los Angeles. Information: (213) 977-6700.
On Wednesday, appointed officials with the Charter Reform Commission will discuss the balance of power by clarifying the roles of top city officials. David Freeman, general manager of the Department of Water and Power, will also speak on the governance of the city’s independent departments--DWP, airports and harbor. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. at the DWP building, 111 N. Hope St., 15th floor boardroom, Los Angeles. Information: (213) 367-5234.
On Thursday, the joint conference committee, with 10 commissioners appointed by the heads of the elected and appointed panels, will hold its first public meeting at 10 a.m. at the DWP conference center.
