The grand opening of Ventura County’s newest art gallery is set for Tuesday.
Charles Weis, county superintendent of schools, recently established the Schools’ Art Gallery on the premises of the Administrative Services Center in Camarillo.
The gallery will showcase paintings and drawings by talented students throughout the county on a rotating basis, Weis said.
Reiterating his commitment to arts education in the county’s schools, he added: “I see it as a way to recognize young artists and to encourage their creativity.”
The premiere show will display paintings and drawings by students from the Ventura Unified School District. At the end of April, other students’ artwork will be displayed.
Tuesday’s grand opening will run from 4 to 5 p.m. The young artists and their teachers will be on hand for discussion. After that, the gallery will be open during business hours.
The Schools Art Gallery is at 5189 Verdugo Way. For information, call 383-1901.
