In another first-round game:
Westmont 79, Concordia 71--Ken Knabke had 23 points and nine rebounds and Brian Gomes had 12 points and 11 rebounds for host Westmont (23-7).
Josh Giles scored 18 points with 18 points and Tyler Ream had 15 points and 10 rebounds for Concordia (13-19). Ream made 11 of 12 free throws.
In Golden State Athletic Conference baseball:
Southern California College 9, Azusa Pacific 7 (7)--Greg Schrieber and Kevin Doyle each had two hits and three RBIs for SCC (11-5, 6-2).
In nonconference baseball:
Bellevue 8, Concordia 3--Jeff Champoux had two home runs and three RBIs for Bellevue (4-5-1).Brandon Reimer had two hits for Concordia (5-8).
Biola 7, Chapman 1--James Berger pitched 7 2/3 innings, giving up three hits and walking two and Jay Jonathan had three hits and four RBIs for Biola (13-6).
In Big West Conference softball:
Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 3-5, CS Fullerton 1-4--In the first game of a doubleheader, San Luis Obispo’s Kelly Sack hit a two-run single in the third inning to lead the Mustangs (7-6, 2-0). Pitcher Desarie Knipfer pitched a four-hitter with eight strikeouts.
Anna Bauer had three hits, a run scored and an RBI for the Mustangs in the second game.
Brenda Iglesias had two hits and two RBIs for Fullerton (6-8, 0-2) in the second game.
In Big West Conference men’s tennis:
UC Irvine 5, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 2--Irvine’s David Chang defeated David Wermuth, 6-1, 6-1 and teammate Brett Lucas defeated Michael Myebrov, 6-3, 6-3. Irvine is 4-6.
In a nonconference match:
Hawaii Pacific 7, Southern California College 0--Eric Sandblom defeated SCC’s Nan Ma, 6-3, 6-3, and Sandblom’s brother, Johan, defeated Stefan Johansson, 6-1, 7-5. SCC is 5-2.
In Big West Conference women’s tennis:
Long Beach State. 6, CS Fullerton 3--Eleanor Luzano defeated Sarah Denson, 6-2, 6-1, then teamed with Brooke Lacey to win in doubles, 8-6, for Fullerton.
