Price of Gas

The letter from Don M. Howard (Feb. 21) questions your assertion that gas cost only 25 cents in the 1960s.
When I started driving, in 1966, I bought my gas at a station in Van Nuys where the usual price was 19.9 cents per gallon. The highest it ever went was 24.9 cents. I could put a dime’s worth of gas in my tank and actually get where I was going. Sometimes they even gave things away. You do remember those days, don’t you?
