Academic Decathlon Teams

I take exception to your statements that Ventura County first joined the California Academic Decathlon in 1993 and that this year is the first time two teams will represent the county at state-level competition. Back in December 1984, Ventura County had two schools participating in the state meet when Thousand Oaks and Simi Valley high schools competed in the event held in Orange County. In fact, Thousand Oaks placed ninth that year.

My best wishes to both 1997-98 teams--Moorpark and Simi Valley--as they compete at the state level.
