Council to Consider 2 Landmark Districts

Two more city neighborhoods could be designated as historic landmark districts under a proposal to be considered tonight by the City Council.
If approved, the neighborhoods would become eligible to become historical preservation zones, which would require homeowners to preserve their properties.
Fullerton Heritage members are seeking the designation for the Buena Vista and Rose drives neighborhood and for homes off the 100 blocks of Ash, Elm and Rosslynn avenues.
In addition, the council will consider identifying 37 homes, churches, commercial buildings and a school in other parts of the city as “significant properties.” The designation means the properties would be eligible to be considered local historical landmarks.
Also, council members will decide whether to remove six properties and two residential neighborhoods from the city’s list of potential places of historic significance.
A public hearing on the matter will begin at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall, 303 W. Commonwealth Ave.
