More Galleries Taking Part in Weekly Walk

More than 20 art galleries, nearly double the number that opened late last month, are expected to extend their hours Thursday to participate in First Thursday Art Walk, officials said.
The event, which began last month, also will offer a free shuttle bus for art patrons browsing through galleries in north Laguna Beach, as well as one on Forest Avenue and others in the South Village neighborhood. Participating galleries contributed $20 each to finance the van.
The galleries, including the Laguna Art Museum, are open from 6 to 9 p.m. on the first Thursday of every month to expose more local residents to the city’s art scene.
Sian Poeschl, the city’s arts coordinator, said nearly 400 art patrons strolled Gallery Row last month and art dealers reported a boost in sales.
