Violence Flares in Volatile Kosovo

From Times Wire Reports

Sixteen ethnic Albanians and four Serbian police died in Serbia’s southern Kosovo province, where the Albanian majority has been waging a nine-year campaign to regain autonomy. The Serbian Interior Ministry said five other ethnic Albanians were arrested during weapons raids. The independent Belgrade radio station B-92 quoted unofficial Albanian sources as saying up to 30 people were killed. Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic issued a defiant message to the West not to interfere.
