Power Failure Affects Disneyland
The lights went out and the rides stopped in parts of Disneyland on Monday as a power failure in Anaheim interrupted service on the east side of the theme park, Disneyland officials said.
The outage began at 6 p.m. in central Anaheim when an underground switch delivering electricity to the area malfunctioned, leaving residences and businesses without power, said Dennis Urschel of Anaheim Public Utilities Department.
At the amusement park, the electrical problems shut down attractions in Fantasyland and Tomorrowland with some patrons in mid-ride.
“We sent our cast members out to get everybody off safely,†park spokesman Tom Brocato said. Several of the park’s performances were also rescheduled, he said.
