Rock singer Eddie Money was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving and battery for allegedly punching a business associate, police said Monday.

“The matter is under review to determine if this rises to the level of a criminal misdemeanor filing,†said Ted Goldstein, a spokesman for the Los Angeles city attorney’s office.

Money, the son of a New York police officer who made such hits as “Take Me Home Tonight†and “Maybe I’m a Fool,†was arrested Sunday night outside an apartment in the 4200 block of Arch Drive, police said. He was released early Monday without bail.

“He just got into a business dispute of some type and from there a verbal argument escalated into a physical altercation,†Los Angeles police spokesman Willie Guerrero said.

Money was trying to drive away when officers arrived. Another car was obstructing him and Money had been placed under citizen’s arrest, Guerrero said. “One of the officers who walked over to the car detected an alcoholic odor.â€

Money, a Westlake Village resident, has not been scheduled for arraignment, Goldstein said.
