From Times Wire Reports
Rescuers digging frantically with backhoes, shovels and their hands found an 11-year-old boy among the flattened buildings in the southern city of Ceyhan, more than 24 hours after an earthquake killed at least 112 people and injured more than 1,100 in the region. Five downtown buildings were leveled, leaving mountains of concrete and twisted metal in the streets. Several victims, wrapped in traditional Muslim white shrouds, were buried in joint funerals because of the risk that the heat would speed decomposition.
