Nick Alexopoulos, dean of UC Irvine’s School of Engineering, recently received an award for his support of the campus extension and its students.
The Assistant Executive Vice Chancellor’s Award ceremony was held Tuesday on campus.
Alexopoulos has collaborated with UCI Extension on several endeavors, most recently the opening of the state-of-the-art computer lab in the campus’ Engineering Gateway building.
The lab is being used by UCI students during the day and UCI Extension students at night.
Alexopoulos was named dean of the School of Engineering and professor in the department of electrical and computer engineering in 1997. Before that, he was UCLA’s associate dean for faculty affairs in the School of Engineering and Applied Science for 27 years.
