Man Is Stabbed in the Back and Face
A man who was stabbed in the back and face on Ventura Avenue passed out, then awoke and staggered to a pay telephone to call for help, police said Friday.
James Powers was on Ventura Avenue on Thursday night when an unidentified assailant jumped from a white car, chased him down the street and stabbed him, Ventura Police Lt. Carl Handy said. Powers lost consciousness for a time, but made it to a pay phone when he awoke and called authorities about 9 p.m.
Paramedics took Powers, 34, of Ventura to Ventura County Medical Center, where he was treated and released. Police had few other details Friday and reported no arrests.
