Fireworks for Sale Starting Sunday
Fireworks stands will open Sunday along California 126 in Fillmore.
The 25 booths are at the only place where residents can buy fireworks in Ventura County.
Fire Chief Pat Askren said that parents should keep fireworks, which can reach 1,200 degrees, away from their children.
“Fireworks are only supposed to be used under adult supervision,†Askren said. “Why would you not let your kids play with matches all year long and then play with fireworks?â€
He also said parents who set off fireworks should dress their children in long pants, hats and closed shoes.
Fireworks purchased in Fillmore must be used there, Askren said.
Proceeds from the stands will benefit local nonprofit groups.
