Summer fun in the water has begun at 55 Los Angeles public pools, which will be open until Sept. 7.
Registration for swimming lessons at the city-operated pools began Monday, said Essam Tawdy of the city Recreation and Parks Department.
Beginning Monday, the facilities will offer a range of swimming lessons, junior lifeguard training, synchronized swimming and water safety courses.
More than 50 neighborhood pools offer 10-session swimming courses for a $1 registration fee. At other pools, the fee is $10 for the lessons.
Pool admission is 75 cents for those under 18, $1.25 for adults and 50 cents for senior citizens and the disabled.
