Karros Happy to DH

The Dodgers play their first interleague game tonight in Seattle, and not a minute too soon for the ailing Eric Karros.
He will take advantage of the American League ballpark and play designated hitter, giving him a chance to rest his surgically repaired left knee.
“Hitting-wise, it’s not that bad,” Karros said. “But moving around, it’s not where I’d like to be. But I still think I can drive in runs.”
After driving in five runs Wednesday, he knocked in the tying run Thursday, giving him 18 RBIs in 35 games since coming off the disabled list. Then he left the game for a pinch-runner.
He said another stint of 15 days or so on the disabled list would not do enough to heal his knee, and is considering more surgery in the off-season.
For now, he must also face the fact that he can’t play first base every game.
“Those days are over,” he said.
“I can’t play every day like I want to. I have to accept that.”
