Woman Found Slain in Mom-and-Pop Store
A woman was found dead behind the counter of an Anaheim liquor store Thursday by a customer who walked in to do some shopping, authorities said.
The unidentified male customer called police about 11:30 a.m. after finding the woman in a pool of blood at the D & D Beer and Wine Market, a mom-and-pop store on West Lincoln Boulevard, said Joe Vargas, a spokesman for the Anaheim Police Department.
“We don’t know if she was stabbed, shot or beaten,†Vargas said. “We also don’t know if it was a robbery or a rape.â€
Some residents said they thought the woman was the proprietor of the business, but Vargas would identify her only as an adult Asian female.
“We will not release a positive ID until we are sure,†he said.
An autopsy was scheduled this morning, authorities said.
