Paule Sets Record in Rapids’ 2-1 Victory

Ross Paule scored the fastest two goals by one player in MLS history Sunday as the Colorado Rapids beat the Kansas City Wizards, 2-1 before 11,273 at Denver.

Paule scored in the fifth and sixth minutes to break the record of two goals in a two-minute span, which was held by three players. Paule scored first from 18 yards out on a chip shot, and he put home the rebound of a shot by Jason Boyce a minute later.

Kansas City (5-8) scored in the 83rd minute when a shot by Digital Takawira rattled off goalkeeper Marcus Hahneman and defender Peter Vermes of the Rapids (5-8) before bounding into the net.

Goalkeeper Mike Ammann kept the Wizards in the game with eight saves.

Dallas 2, Miami 0--Jason Kreis and Dante Washington scored and the Burn ended a two-game losing streak before 10,101 at Dallas.

Mark Dodd recorded his second shutout for the Burn (7-4).

Miami (5-8) played most of the match a man down after Matt Kmosko was ejected after 24 minutes because of a second yellow card.

The Fusion rarely threatened and Dodd had to only make one save.

New York-New Jersey 2, New England 1--Mike Petke scored the deciding shootout goal for the MetroStars before 12,136 at Foxboro, Mass.

The victory was the third in a row for New York-New Jersey (6-5), while New England (4-7) dropped its fourth in a row.
