Red Cross Offers Summer Safety Tips
The Orange County Red Cross is offering tips to deal with the dual hazards of summer--drowning and wildfires.
Summertime heat has people seeking refuge in any cool body of water they can find, and thus increasing the danger of drowning. The blazing sun is also drying out grasses and brush that thrived in the wake of El Nino, leaving hillsides covered with kindling.
So the Red Cross is offering a “Be Wildfire Safe” tip card in both English and Spanish, telling how to prepare for wildfire, and what to do if one threatens.
The “Get Wet, Stay Safe” card, also in two languages, offers tips regarding hazards at the beach, lake, swimming pool, water park or spa.
