Re “Suit Filed in Crash That Injured, Killed Immigrants,” July 23: Let me get this straight. Twenty-five or more illegal aliens are entering the United States in a vehicle being operated by someone being paid to smuggle them into the country. The vehicle is overloaded, is being operated in an unsafe manner, is apparently trying to evade a law enforcement agency and then crashes, killing eight and injuring 17.
Subsequently, a civil suit is filed in federal court against the Border Patrol and the INS on behalf of said illegal entrants asking for $5 million. Such a ridiculous action would be entertained only in the U.S. and/or California.
