Woman, 82, Dies After Car Goes Over Cliff

VENTURA — An 82-year-old Ventura woman died Monday evening after her car plunged over a 200-foot cliff as she was driving through a residential neighborhood, police said.
Mary Jane Nagel was attempting to turn around at the end of Lincoln Drive in east Ventura about 7 p.m. when her car went over the curb and careened down the steep cliff, said Police Sgt. Larry White. The vehicle rolled once and Nagel was ejected.
Paramedics rappelled down the cliff to reach the seriously injured woman, White said.
She was taken to Ventura County Medical Center with serious internal injuries, White said. She was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
White said Nagel may have gotten lost and went over the cliff when she tried to turn around on the dead-end street.
