A Port Hueneme man was arrested after allegedly assaulting a customer at a local convenience store who refused to buy him beer and then stealing his bicycle, police said Monday.
William Nolan Jr., 35, was booked into the Ventura County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and robbery after the Sunday night incident.
Nolan asked 21-year-old Abel Martinez to buy him some beer outside Jolly’s Liquor in the 800 block of North Ventura Road about 8:30 p.m. Sunday, police said.
Martinez refused, and when he emerged from the liquor store he was attacked with a beer bottle.
After a brief struggle, Nolan allegedly fled on Martinez’s bike to a nearby motel where he was arrested by Officer John Brisslinger.
Martinez was treated for a minor cut to the head, police said.
