‘Hijacking Hollywood’

Neil Mandt’s (right) fast and funny 1997 take on one of the film industry’s most durable subjects: how hard it is to break into the movies. Mandt and his co-writer Jim Rossow have come up with an inspired twist to their tale. Henry Thomas (left) stars as a recent University of Detroit graduate in film who joins the legions of Hollywood wannabes, and Mandt cast himself as his savvy new roommate (Showtime Monday at 10 p.m. and Cinemax Thursday at 12 a.m.).
