A War With Many Fronts

I can’t remember reading such a charming and hysterical article as “War of the Roses” (by Michael Krikorian, June 14). I’m single and a first-time homeowner. I’ve spent every last penny and practically every waking moment of the last nine months transforming a “pitiful, ugly, dead, overgrown bunch of yuk” into my own private paradise of a garden. I look forward to every nursery trip (almost daily), I’ve chosen to spend a night at Home Depot instead of going on a date, and I’m currently waiting with bated breath for my Don Juans to bloom.

Krikorian’s article was the highlight of my day. I immediately went to my garden and cut a gorgeous bloom from my Double Delight.

I was thoroughly amused by Krikorian’s story of “kidnapping” his roses. I recently moved out of a marriage and had to leave behind my 28 rose bushes. It was harder to lose the roses than the man.
