Warner Is Finer in Carolina
Bryan Warner (Glendale College) has been selected the Class-A Carolina League’s player of the week for June 25 through July 1.
Warner, who signed with the Colorado Rockies as a free agent on April 21, was 13 for 31 (.419) with four home runs, 14 runs batted in and a .903 slugging percentage for the Salem Avalanche.

Gabe Kapler (Taft High, Moorpark College) of Jacksonville (Tigers) was one for two and scored the American League’s only run Wednesday in the Double-A all-star game. The National League won, 2-1.
Kapler, with 92 RBIs, is on pace to break the Southern League record of 132 set in 1986 by Terry Steinbach.
Mike Mitchell (Rio Mesa High) of Mobile (Padres) singled in his only at-bat and Frank Charles (Montclair Prep) of Shreveport (Giants) was hitless in one plate appearance.

Torey Lovullo (Montclair Prep) was selected to the Triple-A all-star game, but did not play in the game Wednesday because of an arm injury that has sidelined him since June 16.
At the time of the injury, Lovullo was fourth in the International League with a .336 average, and had 13 home runs and 49 RBIs for Buffalo (Indians).

Second baseman Raphael Ozuna and catcher Chris Unrat of the Pacific Suns have been selected to appear in the Western League all-star game Monday in Chico.
