Daryl Ahrens of Cal State Northridge, who was selected women’s assistant tennis coach of the year in the NCAA Division I West Region, has been released by the school, Athletic Director Paul Bubb said Wednesday.
Bubb said Ahrens’ contract was not renewed because Ahrens was not making satisfactory progress toward a bachelor’s degree.
Kelly Edwards, captain of the Northridge women’s team and a former Grant High player, will not have her scholarship renewed.
Bubb said Coach Gary Victor felt she did not meet “the expectations of other team members.”
