Workers Repairing Ventura Freeway

Caltrans road crews began a weeklong project Monday to repair sections of the Ventura Freeway near the Los Angeles County line that were damaged during this year’s heavy, El Nino storms.

Road crews began repairing potholes Monday night along a stretch of the freeway between Lost Hills and Lindero Canyon roads and will continue to work until Friday.

As many as three lanes, on both the northbound and southbound sides, will be closed between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. each day until the work is completed.

On Friday, beginning at 10 p.m., four lanes of the highway will be closed between Topanga Canyon Road and Canoga Street until 5 a.m. Saturday.

Though the work is being done during the late-night hours, Caltrans officials warn commuters they might experience delays of up to 30 minutes while traveling to and from Los Angeles.

Caltrans is conducting the work as part of a $300,000 emergency road repair project to fix potholes and other damage left in the wake of El Nino-powered storms, which pounded the area earlier this year.
