Four Schools Begin Year-Round Schedule

Four of the city’s elementary schools will begin a year-round schedule today in response to increased enrollment and class-size reduction programs.
Students at Benjamin Beswick, Robert P. Heideman, C. C. Lambert and Jeane Thorman elementary schools will attend classes for three months (60 school days), followed by a one-month break. During the school year, students will rotate through three of the “60-20” cycles.
Year-round education “enables us to serve more students by utilizing the school facilities more effectively,” said Regina Cain, a Tustin Unified School District administrator who is coordinating the new plan. “More importantly, it has a positive impact on children, because they experience more continuous instruction.”
